Програма:

Join us in this adventure in the challenging and beautiful Pirin Mountain. Once covered in glaciers, Pirin offers diverse experience for all types of mountain lovers - from beginners to advanced. Its lakes attract tourists to simply stop and contemplate the beauty of nature, its steep edges and narrow ridges offer adrenaline for the thrill-seekers and its high peaks extend the horizon for everyone who is eager to touch it.

There are two hypothesis about the name of the mountain. The first one assumes that it was named after Perun, the highest god of the Slavic pantheon and the god of thunder and lightning. The second version is that the etymology of the range derives from the Thracian word Perinthos, meaning "Rocky Mountain". Both describe perfectly the nature of this magnificent place.

We will spend a nice summer day in the high mountain, hiking up to its highest peak Vihren (2841 m.), enjoying the fresh air, the view and the flow of positive energy that always accompanies them.

Itinerary:

  • 06:30 - We meet in front of Alexander Nevsi Cathedral and we head towards the town of Bansko, at the foot of Pirin Mountain.
  • We park near Vihren hut and we start our hiking trip towards the peak.
  • In about 30 minutes we reach the hut and we continue on the trek uphill. The route is quite steep, rocky at times and challenging. We are taking short breaks and once we reach Kazanite refuge we stop for a longer rest. The view is inspiring. We see the steep north-eastern wall of Vihren peak that sets shivers on the spine of every adventurer. If we are lucky enough, we also have the chance to encounter the wild goats that live in this part of the mountain.
  • Shortly after we reach the saddle between Vihren peak and Kutelo peak called Premkata. We take a short break and we prepare for the summit push. It is quite challenging path up to the peak but with the support of the experienced mountain guides the excitement remains the only feeling, no fears.
  • We reach the top of the mountain. The view is overwhelming. We see clearly Todorka peak, Tipitsite, Mouratov Peak. We remain there for some time to contemplate the experience and to capture the moment in photos. Then we head towards Vihren hut.
  • This time we take another path and on our way we see the sharp edges of the rocks called Jamjievi Skali. Usually there are many wild goats climbing the rocks with no effort at all.
  • We arrive at the hut. We take a well deserved break and then we continue our way to the parking where our transportation is waiting to take us back to Sofia.
  • 20:00 - We are in Sofia and it is time to say goodbye.
